What is cheaper?
A lot of people think bagged mulch is way more expensive compared to buy bulk d if you need more than just a couple of bags. This is a big misconception! And we explain why.
Although the price of a bag of mulch seems to be high, if you buy bulk you will be charged delivery costs to bring it to your door. And delivery doesn’t come cheap. We heard several stories that the delivery costs outreached the cost of the mulch itself. There are also other advantages of bagged mulch. Such as easier distribution in your garden and no occupied spot on your driveway; the truck dumps only at an accessible spot! Also note colored mulch is died and can leave hard to remove stains on your concrete driveway.
For the calculations we priced the bulk mulch at $55 per yard, the 2 cu feet bags at $5.99 and the 3 cu feet bags at $7.99.
From our own experience we know you can load approx. 120 cubic feet of bagged mulch in a 6 foot pickup truck, which are 60 bags of 2 cubic feet bags or 40 bags of 3 cubic feet. This equals almost 4.5 cubic yard!
We estimate you can load approx. 60 cubic feet (> 2 yard) in a van and 40 cubic feet (1.5 yard) in a regular car.
